International

Proportional Representation is the international standard for representative democracy today. More accurately, the principle of proportionality is the foundation of most of the world's democracies, as there are several different systems used, and many variations and adaptations within those. See Electoral System Descriptions for additional background on the various systems featured in these accounts.
